There are already an exciting crop of fresh manga which are just starting but have the potential to be huge hits outside of Japan. The sports romance story Blue Box takes heavy inspiration from Shoujo and has already proven to be huge in Japan. Even more recent examples such as My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, and Black Clover all share their DNA with Dragon Ball considering they were all inspired by Naruto. While there has always been outliers, such as Death Note, that were major hits, they were far less frequent than their more-traditional counterparts. One Piece is arguably the most influenced by Dragon Ball, as it effortlessly captured Toriyama's signature humor. It's not difficult to draw a direct line between Goku and his successors with characters like Naruto, Luffy, and Ichigo. For decades, most of Jump's biggest international hits were directly influenced by Dragon Ball. Not only did it play a huge role in making anime and manga far more mainstream in the west, it also completely changed Weekly Shonen Jump. The impact of Dragon Ball and its creator Akira Toriyama can not be overstated. Few Shonen Jump manga are as influential as Dragon Ball, but new hits like Spy X Family and Chainsaw Man are showing that Jump's future is headed in a completely different direction.
